CINEMA COLOMBIANO

EN | The first feature film by Camilo Restrepo, whose short film LA IMPRESIÓN DE UNA GUERRA was shown during Cinema Colombiano in 2016. Shot on 16mm, we follow Felipe "Pinky" Lozano through nighttime Medellín, where he seeks revenge after he freed himself from the grip of a religious sect.

ES | El primer largometraje de Camilo Restrepo. Su corto LA IMPRESIÓN DE UNA GUERRA fue proyectado durante Cinema Colombiano en 2016. Rodado en 16 mm, seguimos a Felipe "Pinky" Lozano en las noches de Medellín, donde busca venganza luego de liberarse del control de una secta religiosa.

EN | Ana María Millán’s work reflects on cultural practices outside of the art official canon, but that are relevant within popular culture. This is how she got interested in horror films. In The special effects of Jairo Pinilla, made while she was working for the director, Millán relates the precarity of the special effects with toxic masculinity.

ES | Ana María Millán reflexiona en su obra sobre prácticas culturales que están fuera de los cánones oficiales del arte, pero que son relevantes para la cultura popular. Así es como llega a interesarse en el cine de horror. En Los efectos especiales de Jairo Pinilla, realizados mientras Millán trabajaba para el director, ella relaciona la precariedad de los efectos especiales con la masculinidad tóxica.

NL | Het werk van Ana María Millán reflecteert op culturele praktijken buiten de officiële kunstcanon, maar die relevant zijn binnen de populaire cultuur. Zo raakte ze geïnteresseerd in horrorfilms. Ze maakte een korte film over de special effects van Jairo Pinilla terwijl ze voor de regisseur werkte. Hierin relateert Millán de precairheid van de special effects aan toxic masculinity.

EN | Jairo Pinilla is a pioneer of Colombian Cinema. He made the first horror film in the 70's and was nicknamed the Colombian Steven Spielberg. A highlight is T-O : TRIÁNGULO DE ORO - LA ISLA FANTASMA from 1985, which is loaded with special effects and will be shown on Sunday in Filmhuis Cavia (see info below). After T-O however, Pinilla disappeared from the public eye. Director Simón Hernández (PIZARRO) decides to make a documentary telling the whole story while following the iconic 70+ director who's now planning to make the very first 3D film of Colombia.

ES | Jairo Pinilla es un pionero del cine colombiano. Hizo la primera película de terror en los años 70 y fue apodado el Steven Spielberg colombiano. De su obra se destaca T-O: TRIÁNGULO DE ORO - LA ISLA FANTASMA de 1985, que está cargada de efectos especiales y se proyectará el domingo en Filmhuis Cavia (ver info más abajo). Sin embargo, después de T-O, Pinilla desapareció del ojo público. El director Simón Hernández (PIZARRO) decide hacer un documental contando toda la historia, mientras sigue al icónico director de más de 70 años que ahora planea hacer la primera película en 3D de Colombia.

NL | Jairo Pinilla is pionier van de Colombiaanse filmindustrie. In de jaren 70 maakte hij de eerste horrorfilm en kreeg hij de bijnaam 'de Colombiaanse Spielberg'. Hoogtepunt is T-O: TRIÁNGULO DE ORO - LA ISLA FANTASMA uit 1985, gevuld met special effects, welke vertoond wordt op zondag in Filmhuis Cavia (meer info beneden). Na T-O verdween Pinilla uit beeld. Regisseur Simón Hernandez (PIZARRO) besluit een documentaire te maken over zijn carriére, wanneer de iconisch regisseur op 70+-jarige leeftijd van plan is de allereerste 3d-film van Colombia te maken.

EN | Daniel worked for years with the Nasa indigenous community in Colombia. Due to his work, he was a victim of an attack perpetrated by paramilitary groups financed by the state, which he survived but which left irreparable marks on his body.

ES | Daniel acompañó durante años a la comunidad indígena Nasa en Colombia. Debido a su trabajo fue víctima de un atentado perpetrado por grupos paramilitares financiados por el estado, del cual sobrevivió pero dejó marcas irreparrables en su cuerpo.

NL | Daniel werkte jarenlang voor de inheemse gemeenschap van Nasa in Colombia. Door zijn werk werd hij het slachtoffer van een aanslag gepleegd door paramilitaire groepen die door de staat werden gefinancierd, die hij overleefde maar onherstelbare sporen op zijn lichaam achterliet.

EN | In the town of Villapaz, Valle del Cauca lives Victor Gonzalez Urrutia, who has made more than 40 films. We'll show the documentary HECHO EN VILLAPAZ, which follows Victor - the painter, writer, filmmaker and construction worker - as well as his community which is surrounded by enormous sugar cane plantations.

EN | A group of kids decide to make a pucha, a collective meal where each one brings an ingredient. Despite the complaints about the pucha from their parents, since food is scarce at their home, they give to the kids what they want. Nevertheless, the parents also give an important advice: don´t go to the creek! But the children don’t listen and will have to face a strange apparition.

ES | Un grupo de niñes decide hacer una pucha, una comida colectiva donde cada quien trae un ingredient. A pesar de que sus parientes se quejan de la pucha, porque en sus casas hay poca comida, acceden a dar los ingredientes. No sin antes darles una recomendación importante: no vayan al cañal! Pero los niñes no hacen caso y tendrán que enfrentar una extraña aparición.

NL | Een groep kinderen besluit om een collectieve maaltijd (la pucha) te maken waarbij iedereen een eigen ingrediënt meebrengt. De ouders vinden het maar niets, gezien eten schaars is, maar geven de kinderen wat ze willen. Daarnaast ook een advies: ga niet spelen bij de beek! Maar de kinderen luisteren niet, en komen oog in oog te staan met een mysterieuze verschijning!

EN | The film is recorded between 1986 and 1996, making this work perhaps the most extensive record on Palenquera culture and a mandatory feature film for those who want to get closer to the history of this municipality permeated by the African heritage. Featuring music from artists like Toto La Momposina, Petrona Martinez and Paulino Salgado. The cinematography that Goggel imprinted on the film reminds of his work on La Vendedora de Rosas - between reality and fantasy.

ES | Grabado entre 1986 y 1996, este trabajo es tal vez el registro más extenso sobre la cultura palenquera y un largometraje obligatorio para quien quiere acercarse a la historia de este municipio permeado por el acervo africano. Con música de Toto La Momposina, Petrona Martínez y Paulino Salgado. La fotografía que Goggel imprime en la película nos recuerda su trabajo en la Vendedora de Rosas --entre realidad y fantasía.
